Systems Engineering Manager
The Systems Engineering Manager establishes future capability in microphone test, algorithms, simulations, applications, markets and products; identifies new architecture concepts; and defines new products. This person is a key technical interface between customers, suppliers, partners, and Akustica. Customer interaction and global travel is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Product Definition: Understand and prioritize market and customer requirements. Define products with customers by translating their needs into technical specifications for product development teams. Analyze the competition to determine areas of focus, directions, and relative strengths and weaknesses. Select new product ideas for development
- Product Development: For the new products selected for development, be the internal technical “voice of the customer”. Ensure that the predefined technical concept and specifications are met in the design of the IC.
- Strategic Development: Help set strategic direction by identifying and researching applications and architectures and driving the resultant product roadmap with Strategic Marketing. Attend standards meetings and contribute to the development of industry-standard microphone system specifications
- Algorithm Evaluation: Analyze various noise suppression algorithms, rate performance, and recommend solutions. Develop customer demos and implement ideas into new product definitions.
- Technical Support: Share your expertise in acoustics, electronic design, and test evaluation with both internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
- Strong technical background in audio signal path or acoustics, with BSEE or higher. MSEE preferred.
- Seven or more years of industry experience in audio and/or acoustic system design, preferably in cell phones.
- Acoustics design and test experience, preferably related to microphones.
- Understands customer requirements in cell phone audio chain (codec, interface, network), design cycle, and qualification.
- Able to generate mathematical models that provide insight in the system behavior, both on IC and application level
- Must be an effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization, both company and customer, utilizing both written as well as verbal communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking mode and to maintain a sense of priorities while responding to daily interruptions.
