len Meakem is the founder and chairman of FreeMarkets, Inc., the leading provider of software, services, and information that assists corporations with all phases of supply management. FreeMarkets had revenues of $170 million in 2002 and employs over 1,000 people in 14 countries. The company serves hundreds of major corporations around the world and has helped them to source over $50 billion of supply contracts, generating savings of over $10 billion. In early 1995, Mr. Meakem left his position at General Electric and founded FreeMarkets with a revolutionary vision --that companies around the globe could achieve dramatic savings and profit improvements by replacing decades-old manual purchasing processes with internet-deployed software to manage supply, including the use of online, real-time, downward price auctions between suppliers. Mr. Meakem led the company in pursuit of this vision as its chief executive officer from the company's inception until the beginning of 2003.
A leader in his adopted city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Meakem is a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University, and is Chairman of the Board of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Historical Society - Heinz History Center. Early in his career, Mr. Meakem held professional and managerial positions with McKinsey & Company and Kraft-General Foods. A former officer in the United States Army Reserve, Mr. Meakem also volunteered for and served in the 1991 Gulf War. Mr. Meakem holds a B.A. cum laude from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Fred C. Kuznik

Fred recently assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer at Cable Design Technologies in New York. Previously he was Executive Vice President of Motorola, Inc., and President of Motorola's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), based in Slough, U.K. Prior, Fred was President of Motorola's Personal Communications Sector headquartered in Libertyville, Illinois, overseeing the design, manufacture and distribution of a full range of consumer wireless products for more than 130 worldwide markets. Fred first joined Motorola in 1990. He has led the Land Mobile Products Sector (LMPS) business in EMEA, as well as the Sector's sales, manufacturing and development organizations. In the summer of 1993, he relocated from Europe to the U.S. to assume the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Communications & Electronics Group of LMPS.
A native of the former Czechoslovakia, Fred had a distinguished career with Philips, Arthur D. Little and Western Electric before joining Motorola. From 1981 to 1990, Fred served as a Managing Director of Philips Telecommunications. He was a member of the Board of Management of AT&T; Philips Telecommunications when it was formed in 1984. From 1978 to 1981, Fred worked as a consultant on a number of projects in Europe, Thailand, South Korea, the Middle East and Brazil. From 1975 to 1978, he was a managing director of A.D. Little Consultancy in Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, he worked at AT&T; in Switching Systems in the Chicago area. Fred earned his Dipl. Ing. Degree from the Technical University of Ostrava and holds a Masters degree in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He also did post-graduate studies in computers.
