Many consumer electronic devices including video cameras, digital cameras, and digital voice recorders contain one or more microphones. Acoustic CMOS MEMS would benefit the users of these devices by:

• Providing superior recording quality because of superior microphone input.
• Enabling highly directional sound recordings so only the desired sounds are recorded.
• Allowing more functionality in these devices even while they continue to get smaller.
